Eliminating Internet Problems

A few months ago, I realized that my internet wasn't working that well. My connection kept timing out, and it seemed like no matter what I did, the pages weren't loading quickly at all. I cleared out my cache, reset my router, and still nothing. After talking with a neighbor, they informed me that there was a problem with the internet provider that I was using. I contacted the internet provider, and they walked me through a few really interesting troubleshooting tips. I learned a lot that day, and I want to teach you a lot too. This blog is filled with articles about the Internet, so that you don't run into any trouble of your own.

Moving To A New Home? 2 Tips To Choose The Right Home Internet Package

Maria Mora

If you are moving to a new home, having some things set up before you arrive can make things go much easier for you and your family. One of these things is the home Internet package. Below is some information to help you choose the package that will work best for you.

Contact Internet Service Providers

Contact local companies that offer Internet packages to determine what would work best for you. Look online to see what is available in your area. In most cases, websites will allow you to enter your zip code on their site to determine if they service the area that you live in. For example, some Internet companies offer fiber optic cables, but not all areas have this type of cable available.

Once you determine the Internet Service Provider (ISP) you want to use, determine what they charge on a monthly basis so you can compare rates.

Choose Between DSL, Cable, or Satellite

You also need to determine if you want DSL, cable, or satellite Internet. DSL is installing a modem, along with a router that is attached to your computer. You then get your Internet through your ISP. DSL is often fast and does not go down a lot. Cable Internet is generally faster than DSL, but not by a lot. With this, you will also have a modem installed but it will be installed by your cable company. Satellite Internet may not be as quick as DSL or cable. You also have to have a direct view of the southern sky in order for the satellite Internet to work well.

Determine Download and Upload Speeds

Download and upload speeds are something else to consider. The provider you are interested in should give you information about those speeds. You may find that most Internet connections today are made to download faster than they upload. Downloading involves how quickly web pages will load for you or how well videos will stream. The upload speed, on the other hand, is how fast data transfers from your computer to the Internet. This would be important if you have to transfer a lot of files to someone on a regular basis, such as if you work at home and have to transfer data files to your company.

These three tips should help you get everything set up so that you and your family can have access to the Internet as soon as you arrive at your new home.
